Finland’s first public high-power charging station for commercial electric transport opened.
Event at the new station
November 14th, 2023 | Plugit Finland opened Finland’s first public high-power charging station for electric heavy transport in Viinikka, Tampere. The station was inaugurated by Minister of Climate and the Environment Kai Mykkänen.
Mayor of the City of Tampere, Kalervo Kummola and Anna Storm, VP, Stakeholder Relations & Director of Sustainability, Posti Group, was present to talk about the impact of sustainability thinking on the electrification of logistics.
Electric commercial vehicles were also present on site to demonstrate the charging solution in practice. Magnus Björklund, Managing Director of Volvo Finland, spoke about Volvo’s ambitious global emissions targets.
We are very pleased that a significant number of Finland’s leading logistics companies and operators were present. Public charging is of interest and clearly unites Finnish entrepreneurs and authorities in a common goal.
A truck stop on the road
PRO DC stations can be equipped with energy storage. In Viinikka, the energy storage is 470 kWh with 400 kW inverter power. In practice, this means that the vehicles will get 100-150kW in about half an hour.
The energy storage batteries are supplied by Swedish Nortvolt and it can be fully charged and discharged in about an hour.
